Agriturismo a Pizzoferrato
Very long time before the year thousand Pizzoferrato not there, but there were near three small towns of the country called Lace. They were Pitiusa Superior (Peak Upper) present upstream of the Rock, Pitiusa Medium (Middle Peak) is now called Rocca Maggiore and Source Pitus Inferior (Lower Peak) Roccarsa today. Of these three centers are still the ruins. The inhabitants of three pizzas were shepherds in winter with their families and the animals were in Apulia in the summer and went back to graze on these mountains. This was the transhumance. So these places were not cultivated and were almost all covered by forests. There were forests of beech, oak and fir. Over time the shepherds that were transhumant began to cultivate the fields and became farmers than farmers. On the birth of Pizzoferrato there are two visions. The first says that Pizzoferrato arose after the destruction of lace around the year three thousand. It is said that three families were saved from this destruction and came to settle in the country. This seems to be confirmed by the large archive of Naples. The second version, however, said they were only two brothers to escape the destruction of three pizzas, and Lorenzo Rocco. Rocco Pizzoferrato and gave birth to Lorenzo Gamberale. But there is no evidence, no historical document that confirms this story even though the patron saint is San Lorenzo and Gamberale Pizzoferrato are: the square, a street, the bell tower, and anticamenteanche a chapel dedicated to San Rocco. The town's name was originally PIZZOSTERRATO, that lace above ground and it is this name that is mentioned in the great hall of maps of the Vatican. At that time only 105 people lived in Pizzoferrato. The town took the name of Pizzoferrato when the inhabitants to protect themselves from robbers, who then infested many throughout the country, closed the only entrance to the village with a large iron door that was closed at night and all slept peacefully. At that time the houses were all on Pizzo and consequently the whole population was held in "Old Tower". So was and is called the zone on the Peak. Then houses scattered in the fields (farms) were not inhabited, as they are now, but were used as storage for farm equipment and shelters for riparasi weather. Only after the disappearance of brigandage peasants began to reside permanently in the country. Now much of the population resides in the farms (villages). Who did not go to live in the country slowly began to move the foot of the Peak country identified as giving rise to the current capital, while the farms of origin for three districts: Collalto, Castiglione and Turks, divided internally into houses. As told, of course, was a long process that lasted more than a few centuries.
